The Exercise Bingo Board is designed to engage young children in understanding the principles of physical activity, health, fitness, and the human body through fun workouts and interactive games. By aligning with the school’s anatomy curriculum, we've highlighted specific muscles and linked them to exercises that the kids can easily understand and enjoy. Inspired by successful initiatives in rural Thailand, where communities have embraced group activities to encourage staying active, we aim to foster lifelong healthy habits in children. Exercise not only enhances physical well-being but also serves as a valuable outlet for stress, builds essential skills like communication and teamwork, and significantly reduces the risk of chronic diseases.
Our fitness lesson plan employed fun activities and demonstrations to help children find a love for fitness.
The first activity can be done in a a big class setting or small groups. Using the blank bingo board, take turns picking exercises to demonstrate and fill all 24 squares. Whichever group fills their bingo board the fastest wins!
When doing the exercise tell students to think about what muscle they are straining!
Then split students up into groups of 4-5. In these small groups make a competition to see who can remember each muscle. Call out a muscle and have them point to that part of the body. Once they remember these, get them to do the corresponding exercise.
Lastly, have students complete a worksheet to check their knowledge on what they learned
