Global Partnership: How Students in Thailand and India Inspired Our Mission, Amplified Our Impact, and Shaped Our Vision for the Future
Our program was established in Thailand to address the lack of emphasis on health education in many schools. Unlike other countries where health education and physical activity are integrated into the curriculum, Thailand's schools often miss these critical elements. Extensive research into diet, exercise, lifestyles, and public health initiatives in Thailand informed our approach.
Our primary goal is to introduce children to the importance of staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle from an early age. By fostering good habits through education, we aim to reduce the rate of chronic diseases. We also collaborate with teachers who teach English to schoolchildren, reinforcing language skills.
Through our projects, children not only learn about health but also develop teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills. Click the 'Projects' tab for detailed descriptions and 'how to' guides so you can implement these practices at home!
Building on our success in Thailand, our program has expanded to reach a rural village outside of India, where we partner with an all-girls secondary school specializing in commerce and finance education. While the school excels in preparing students for business careers, we identified an opportunity to broaden their educational horizons and empower these young women with knowledge beyond their core curriculum.
Through weekly virtual sessions conducted in Hindi, our team delivers engaging presentations on STEM concepts, health education, and personal hygiene topics that are often overlooked in traditional settings. We work closely with local teachers, providing them with resources and coaching to facilitate hands-on activities that reinforce these lessons and encourage active student participation. Our virtual classroom has become a space where students can explore diverse career paths, ask questions about personal development, and gain confidence in subjects outside their usual focus.
This initiative not only supplements their commerce-focused education but also inspires these young women to consider continuing their education beyond high school, showing them the breadth of opportunities available across different fields. The program's success demonstrates how virtual learning can bridge educational gaps and create meaningful connections across borders, even in remote communities.
Our program started in Bangkok, Thailand, with a focus on targeting lower-income communities to make a significant impact. Designed for primary school children ages 5-10 with little proficiency in English, our curriculum gets kids on their feet and engaged in learning.
To ensure the program's longevity, we have partnered with students from Mahidol University and Silpakorn University. By organizing the school into groups by class, we hold sessions that effectively teach and inspire children through our curriculum.
Building on this successful model, we've expanded to India through a partnership with the Akash School, an all-girls institution ages 14-18, in a rural village outside Agra. Here we collaborate with local teachers to deliver virtual sessions that complement their commerce-focused curriculum with health education, safety, personal hygiene, and STEM.
Our long-term goal is to educate children on nutrition, physical wellness, and health, empowering them to apply this knowledge in their everyday lives. Sustainability is a core element of our project, and we aim to continually develop new lesson plans and activities that build on what the children have learned. From cooking with fresh ingredients to maintaining good hygiene, we strive to integrate these lessons into our curriculum in creative ways.
Eventually, we plan to expand our outreach to other schools in the area, maintain strong connections, and ensure the continuity of the program.
